Greetings from the director of the Spine Center of Tokyo West Tokushukai Hospital

My name is Dr. Yohei Yuzawa. and I took up the post of Specialist in Spinal Surgery at Tokushu-kai Hospital in July 2008.

I am certified as a spine surgery advising doctor by the Japanese Society for Spine Surgery and Related Research, and I have a certification regarding the technology capability for endoscopic spine surgery as authorized by The Japanese Orthopaedic Association. Only 55 surgeons in all of Japan currently possess this certification for endoscopic spine surgery.

I am also an active member of The International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine.

I have had many patients from the United States Air Force Yokota Hospital, because our hospital is situated nearby the Yokota Base and we are able to provide medical aid in English. Our staff may not speak English that perfectly however we do look forward to accepting patients from foreign countries and we try to provide a warm welcome to all foreign patients.

The diseases we treat are: lower back pain, lumbar disc herniation, degenerative lumbar disc disease, lumbar spinal canal stenosis, spondylolysis, spondylolisthesis, cervical disc herniation, degenerative cervical disc disease, and so on. We can deal with all the various spine related diseases, though we believe our most important area of expertise is surgical treatment. Therefore, if after checking the patient's condition we find the patient does not need surgical treatment, we may recommend the patient see a nearby doctor for more conservative treatment.
